You pay your taxes, but ever
wondered how they get spent. This funny HMRC joke file shows you just
how, distributing your hard earned cash to the needy in society. Needy?
Well, in need of a job at least. If you receive tax credits for yourself or
your children this is pretty much what its like working within an HMRC
call centre. A great many of those phoning up are foreign nationals and,
because the customer is always believed to be telling the truth, even
when blatantly lying, after you've got through security, you can tell as
many porkies as you are capable of to get extra money.
What's worse, if the
caller states they've just had 15 disabled babies and if the call
centre operator doesn't update the account with those extra babies
etc knowing it to not be true, they
get disciplined. For the tax year 2019 to 2020, the central estimate of the rate of error and fraud favouring the claimant equated to around 880 million pounds paid out incorrectly. And that's no joke. That's your hard earned money. Crazy, crazy system.
