Walter Disney
was born on 5th December 1901 and created a magical world of cartoons and
films that will endure for generations. During his career he received an
astonishing fifty nine Academy award nominations and won an extraordinary
twenty six Oscars for his work in addition to seven Emmy Awards. Walt Disney started his
animation career in earnest when he and then partner Fred Harman secured a
deal with their local cinema to air their cartoons which became widely
popular and known, and the rest, as they say is history. Explaining why he so enjoyed the
art of cartooning, Disney stated "Animation can explain whatever the mind of
man can conceive. This facility makes it the most versatile and explicit
means of communication yet devised for quick mass appreciation." He died on 15th December 1966.
