Thora Hird had a rich and diverse acting career that spanned six decades.
Perhaps best known for her twenty year stint in the TV sitcom Last of the
Summer Wine, she had also appeared in many films and other TV work. She is
also remembered for her charitable work and became a Dame Commander in 1993. Thora Hird passed away aged 91 on 15th March 2003 at home in England.
