Paul Gasgoine was born on the 27th May 1967 near Newcastle, England, and went on to have a successful football career both at club and international level.
Known as Gazza, he became as well known for his pranks and
verbal gaffes as his football, but his career was later blighted by alcohol abuse. He had a short spell in management but was
unable to develop working relationships with the club's owners stating on
one occasion, "I know as a manager you have to
abide by the chairman's decisions. But his decisions were this team, that
team, this player, that player. The chairman is a control freak." He has not worked in football since being dismissed as the manager of Kettering Town in 2005.
