Henry Winkler Autograph

The Fonz was a character in the US sitcom Happy days, played by Henry Winkler, from 1974 to 1984. As so often happens the general public often mistook the actor for the character. Henry Winkler explains;"People expect me to be this guy who can walk into a dark room, snap my fingers, and turn on the lights. Or they want me to pound my fist on the hood of a car, and start the engine. I can't do it. I've tried! I think the silliest request I ever got was when somebody asked me to quiet the animals in a zoo." After Happy Days ended in 1984, Winkler was typecast as "The Fonz" and faced difficulty finding acting jobs for a period of time and moved into producing and directing, however still undertakes some acting work.
