Elvis Costello
was born Declan Patrick MacManus on 25th August 1954 came to fame in the
punk/new wave music scene of the mid 1970s. He choose his
stage name from Elvis Presley and his mother's maiden name, Costello, at the
suggestion of his manager at Stiff Records. Of his music,
Elvis Costello has stated "I believe that music is connected by human
passions and curiosities rather than by marketing strategies." Costello was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2019 Birthday Honours for services to music.
