Douglas Adams was born on 11th March 1952 and is probably best
known for his Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy books, the title of which apparently came
to him to him while he lay drunk in a field in Innsbruck, Austria.
Douglas Adams died an untimely death at the age of 49 on May 11th 2001 from
a heart attack. It is rumoured that his family and estate are considering a
further Hitchhiker's book, but whether it will ever see the light of day is
yet to be confirmed. As Douglas Adams once said, "I love deadlines. I like
the whooshing sound they make as they fly by."
