Arthur John Gielgud was born on 14th April 1904 in London, England. Gielgud trained at RADA and had his initial success as a stage actor in classical roles, coming to prominence during a successful two seasons at the Old Vic Theatre from 1929 to 1931 where his performances as Richard II and Hamlet were widely acclaimed. John Gielgud is
one of the few people who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and a Tony award. He died on 21st May 2000 of natural causes.
