Dustin Lee Hoffman was born on August 8th, 1937 in Los Angeles, California. Hoffman began his acting career alongside Gene Hackman, however with little success, having to take up teaching to support himself. Then, in 1967, Hoffman tasted success with his role in The Graduate, a performance that
gained him an Academy Award nomination. He was later to become a method actor and today is a twice Academy Award winner, six time Golden Globe winner and a three time BAFTA and Emmy Award winning actor. Hoffman received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1999 and the Kennedy Center Honors Award in 2012.
